Okay, team \u2014 this stop feels a little more serious. That\u2019s because we\u2019re about to hear two real stories<\/strong> from the past that are a bit sad \u2014 but also full of bravery.<\/p>\n

First, meet Jane Padley<\/strong>. She lived right here in Greenhill over 100 years ago with her husband and lots of children \u2014 maybe even 17<\/strong>! Can you imagine doing bedtime with 17 kids?!<\/p>\n

But Jane\u2019s story was hard. Her husband was unkind to her<\/strong>, and that\u2019s not okay. We believe that homes \u2014 and families \u2014 should be full of kindness, friendship, and big-hearted love<\/strong>, don\u2019t you?<\/p>\n

Jane tried her best to care for her children, but life back then was really tough. Some of her little ones got sick and died, because hospitals weren\u2019t like they are today. There wasn\u2019t good medicine or clean homes to help people stay well.<\/p>\n

When Jane died, she was buried here in Greenhill, and she even had a gravestone \u2014 but over time it fell down<\/strong>, and people forgot it was there. The weather nearly destroyed it.<\/p>\n

But guess what? It\u2019s standing tall again now \u2014 thanks to some amazing volunteers who lifted it up, cleaned it, and made sure people would remember Jane<\/strong> with care and respect.<\/p>\n

And now\u2026 let\u2019s talk about Fanny Imlay<\/strong>. She lived a long, long time ago, and her mum \u2014 Mary Wollstonecraft \u2014 was a famous writer who believed girls should speak up and be strong!<\/p>\n

Fanny had a tricky life, and she felt very sad and alone<\/strong>. She came to Swansea, and sadly, she died here.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re not 100% sure<\/strong> she\u2019s buried in this garden, but we believe she might be \u2014 because her family wanted her to be somewhere peaceful like this. But back then, if someone died because they were sad or hurting, they weren\u2019t always allowed to be buried in churchyards. That was wrong, and unfair.<\/p>\n

So this garden remembers her anyway<\/strong> \u2014 and says, \u201cYou mattered, Fanny Imlay.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

And hey \u2014 if anything ever feels tough for you<\/strong> \u2014 at home, in school, with friends or family \u2014 please remember: you can talk to someone<\/strong>. A teacher, a grown-up you trust, someone at Matthew\u2019s House<\/strong>, or even a police officer. There are people who care about you and want to help you feel safe. Always.<\/p>\n
