WHOOSH! We’ve landed in… ewwww!
Do you smell that?
It’s the year 1849, and Greenhill is not smelling too fresh. No toilets. No sinks. Just… streets full of mud, mess, and really pongy puddles!
That’s because people didn’t have clean water or places to wash, and a really nasty disease called cholera spread super fast. It made people very sick, and sadly, lots of them died. So many that the graveyards filled up — and they had to dig a big cholera pit behind me to bury people quickly.
But guess what? While most people ran away scared, one hero ran TOWARDS the danger. His name was Father Charles Kavanagh, and he looked after sick people, gave them water, and even helped bury over 170 people when they died of cholera — by himself!
He didn’t wear a cape, but I think he’s a real-life superhero.
💬 STAMP IDEA: Draw a brave person in a cape, who cared so much for the people who were buried here.
Now hop back into the time machine — the next stop is full of bells, smells, and some very old secrets!
